![]() ![]() ![]() You can basically think of Seafile as an open-source, end-to-end encrypted, and server-agnostic version of Dropbox. Has desktop clients (Linux, Windows, and Mac) Ĭan be accessed via a browser if you want (there is a WebUI at ). Supports end-to-end encryption (just remember to set a password when you create a new file vault) They're basically a cloud host for Seafile client, which is: For a large majority, I believe it's too much hassle and too much risk to be a viable, long term option. What if you forget to encrypt a set of files? What if you don't have access to Cryptomator? For the extremely diligent and savvy person, this is perhaps a good option. ![]() 3 This is an "avoid at all costs" optionĬryptomator + privacy invading service - Privacy wise, this could go under the recommended section but this option has the highest risk. SpiderOak - US based and it's warranty canary has been tripped. Sync - Canadian company, basically the US when it comes to privacy. 2 These are not good looks for a "privacy focused" service. 1 They also say they store multiple copies of your files in Dallas, Texas. PCloud - They don't have client side encryption unless you pay additional for their pCloud Crypto option. However, it's client side encrypted which ultimately allows me to (personally) still recommend them. They aren't open sourced and they haven't been audited. They're based in Switzerland and ToS/PP all look good. Tresorit - I've been debating which side to put this on (recommend or not) because this recommendation is solely based on trust. They are on the pricier side, however, at ~$25/mo. Least Authority - Everything is pretty much open sourced and they provide security audits for other companies, so they certainly know what they're talking about/doing. Nothing really beats hosting your own content. NextCloud - Self hosting is the way to go if you know how or willing to learn and have the money to set up your own hardware. You're right, it has been asked before and the answers are pretty much always the same. Oh and I had a look at Sia, but tbh it went a little over my head. LeastAuthority from what it seems only has web access - which doesn't exactly help (although I'm interested to see what is all about). I also considered NextCloud through a provider, but I've read that the E2EE isn't stable / 100% working yet. I'm not suuuuper technically savy so a complete self - host is not in my grasp at the moment. I was also considering with Cryptomator but that then eliminates web access for me. I then moved to and are still with them - although I do worry about their security based on some of the posts I've read. *Mac & iOS clients (with selective sync & offline for apps)Į2EE - and as secure as possible as I'm wanting to store sensitive info (IDs etc).Ī while ago I had SpiderOak and it was a mess. I though what I was looking for was quite simple (cough) but it seems that it's not - or am I complicating my life? Here are my requirements: Yes I know this question has been asked before, but where on earth to store your data these days? ![]()
